CLASSY PIERCE CHARGES INTO LAST FOUR
Convincing performance from Pierce.
Mary Pierce convincingly won the all-French clash with Amelie Mauresmo to move into the semi-finals of the US Open.
12th seed Pierce won 6-4 6-1 in just 66 minutes after outclassing her opponent.

It's not necessarily good news in terms of "will a French woman win the US Open this year?" but it's certainly a confirmation of my belief that Mauresmo just hasn't found a solution to her problem and that Pierce is in brilliant form at the moment... However, from a personal POV, I guess I feel closer to Mauresmo than Pierce.
And I DID say France'd win the football.
So yeah, I guess it's good news... I was right on all counts!!! :p
